UmmdatulAhkaam -Hadeeth 1 Notes from Shaykh Mohammad bin Ramzaan Al Hajire.

About this Book :

The Author selected the Hadeeth from Imaam Bukhaaree and Imaam Muslim, to which both have agreed upon. So, all the Aahadeeth in this book are Saheeh. Some of the Hadeeth are those only which Bukharee Narrated and some of Aahadeeth are those which only Muslim narrated, but these are in small number and majority are those which are narrated by both. But, know that everything in this book in terms of Hadeeth is Saheeh.

1
The First Hadeeth
After this introduction, the first hadeeth concerns the intention. This is the
hadeeth of ‘Umar ibn al Khataab (radiyallaahu ‘anhu), the leader of the
believers and the second khalifah.

Ameerul-Mu’mineen, Abi Hafs (may Allaah be pleased with him) said that:
“The Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: (The value of)
an action depends on the intention behind it. A man will be rewarded only for
what he intended. The emigration of one who emigrates for the sake of Allaah
and His Messenger (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) is for the sake of Allaah and
His Messenger (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) ; and the emigration of one who
emigrates for gaining a worldly advantage or for marrying a woman is for what
he has emigrated.” [Sahih Muslim, Book 020, Number 4692]

Benefits from Hadeeth :

  • 1) Most cases authors begin with this Hadeeth because actions must have Ikhlaas(sincerity) for Allaah ‘Azza wa jal.
  • 2)The Scholars of Fiqh says that Half of the Deenul Islaam is based upon this Hadeeth because Islaam mainly pay attention on 2 things and these 2 things are condition for the acceptance of any act of worship:                                                      a) Ikhlaas(sincerity) : This is inner affair which only Allaah ‘Azza wa jal knows. This is sincerity in worship.

b)Following the Prophet Sal Allaaho ‘Alyhe wasalam : These are related to Outer actions.

  • Second type which is following the Prophet Sal Allaaho ‘Alyhe wasalam is based upon the Hadeeth of ‘Aishah Radi Allaaho Anhaa,

    (مَنْ عَمِلَ عَمَلاً ليسَ عليه أمرُنا هذا فهو رَدٌّ)

In Another narration,

(من أحدث في أمرنا هذا ما ليس منه فهو رد)

Both Hadeeth in short gives meaning that whoever do something which is not from the way of Prophet Sal Allaaho ‘Alyhe wasalam is rejected. This means whatever which is not upon what Prophet Sal Allaaho ‘Alyhe wasalam did is not accepted.
